Baltimore Orioles: What do you want out of spring training?

What do Baltimore Orioles fans want to see during spring training?
We spend a lot of time during the Baltimore Orioles’ off season trying to figure out who’s going to be on the team, and how Buck Showalter‘s going to use them. However while I wouldn’t be surprised to see another move made prior to the start of Grapefruit League play, I suspect that we’re pretty close to seeing the roster as it will look when the Birds fly south to Sarasota. So…what gives now?
I want to hear from you, the Orioles fans, regarding what you’re looking to see during spring training. Mind you, I’m not talking about well they should have done this, or they should have acquired that player. That’s a different discussion for another day.
I’m talking more along the lines of the roster as we see it now. There are a lot of things for which coaches are looking during spring training. Heck, from a pitching perspective sometimes guys are told to only work on one specific pitch in a game. But in looking at the players the Birds have now, what are you hoping to see once the actual exhibition games begin?

Earlier in the week I wrote about wins and losses – is that something that concerns you as a fan (in spring training)? Are practicing fundamentals more important? How about depth? All of these are things that the coaches will consider as the games begin…
…but again, what do YOU want to see? Spring training is the proving ground for the regular season, and all of the things I mentioned above (and more) are important. At the end of the day, once Grapefruit League play has ended nobody’s going to care what anyone’s record was. But the roots of a winning season do lie in that truncated schedule during March.

Incidentally (and I say this every year), also keep in mind that at the beginning of the schedule pitchers and catchers will be ahead of hitters. So you might see both Orioles’ and opposing batters flailing at pitches – that’s partially why they play these games. It allows hitters to get their timing back and to almost re-learn how to make contact.

But again, what are you looking for out of spring training? I’d welcome any reasonable opinions!
