SP Stripling signs with Giants as market rapidly thins
If the Baltimore Orioles want to sign another free agent starting pitcher, they might need to act with the quickness.
The San Francisco Giants inked 33 year old right Ross Stripling to a two year, $25 million contract on Tuesday, taking away another option for Mike Elias and the Orioles to consider. Stripling is slightly different from other free agent starters in that he’s been used as a swingman throughout his career – he hasn’t ever thrown more than the 134.1 innings he completed last year for the Blue Jays – but brings value regardless of what role he’s used in.
