Saturday was overall not a great day for the Orioles. Coming out on the wrong end of a 14-11 loss to the Houston Astros in Friday's series opener, the offense was mostly silent in a 5-1 loss in Game 2 , securing the first series loss of the month for the Orioles. Things got worse on Sunday, but not in one specific area.

Despite Saturday's drudgery, there was a cool moment early in the game. Jordan Westburg, one of the Orioles' many homegrown stars, hit a solo home run to left field off Houston starter Ronel Blanco to give the O's the early lead. That home run set a franchise record for the Orioles, as it became the 21st straight game they'd homered in.

On Sunday, in another depressing near-shutout, Westburg went yard again, extending the streak to 22.

Even when they lose, the Orioles keep setting offensive records

The home run streak means the Orioles have homered in every game in the month of June so far. It's no coincidence that the Orioles are 13-9 so far this month because of it, and a lot of their success during the stretch has come against AL East foes. This month has been highlighted bywinning series against the Yankees and Blue Jays, while also splitting a four-gamer with Toronto and beating the Rays in two series.

It's not as if the Orioles are solely relying on home runs to produce offense this month either. The long ball has made up the only runs in a game just four times all month, with the Orioles offense still clicking on all cylinders as we approach the halfway point of the season.

With the Orioles having seven games left in June, six of them coming at home, it's quite possible the Orioles extend their home run streak into July as well, though the biggest test in that streak will be the three-game series against the Cleveland Guardians and their pitching staff that starts Monday.

The beat keeps going for the Orioles, and while the pitching staff remains battered by injuries, the offense is keeping things moving along as summer kicks into high gear.
