For the first time in franchise history, the Baltimore Orioles will play in Toronto on Opening Day. It's a fact that seems nearly impossible to believe, given that the two teams have played alongside one another in the AL East since 1977, but it's nonetheless true.
Orioles fans have gotten used to opening the year against the Rays, but the two teams won't face off until mid-June, when the squads will head to Tampa for a 4-game series.
The home opener is set for March 31 against the Red Sox. The O's will take on the Sox for a three game set before heading back on the road to face KC and Arizona.
In a unique change, the Orioles will play 6 games against the Nationals next summer. For the past three seasons, the teams have played four games against one another, with two in each park. 2025 will expand to allow 3 games at Camden Yards, as well as 3 games at Nationals Park in D.C.
Thankfully, the Orioles will avoid any extended road trips in 2025. They'll have 10 separate trips of either 6 or 7 games, but they don't have a single road trip on the calendar that'll span more than 7 games.
The 2025 Orioles' schedule has been released
They do have one long homestand, playing a 9-game stretch against the Jays, Guardians, and Reds in mid-April.
The west coast trip at the beginning of June may prove particularly difficult. The Athletics are set to start playing their home games in an outdoor minor league park in Sacramento starting next year. The Orioles will have a three-game set against the Mariners at the beginning of June before heading to Sacramento to take on the A's in the middle of the California heat.
The All Star break is set to take place from July 14-17, with the festivities scheduled at Truist Park in Atlanta. The O's have a 6-game homestand heading into the break with series' against the Mets and Marlins. Coming out of the break, the O's will play a three-game set in Tampa, then four in Cleveland before heading back home for series against the Rockies and the Jays.
The closing stretch may prove to be a challenge. 13 of the Orioles final 16 games will take place against AL East opponents, with 7 of the final 10 coming against the Yankees. If next year is anything like 2024, those games against the Yankees could play a big role in next year's AL East race.
