On Thursday afternoon, Uni Watch reported that the Orioles are bringing back a certain fan favorite alternate uniform option for 2025. Uni Watch is pretty good about this stuff so while the Orioles haven't officially announced this news just yet, we're going to assume that the reporting is accurate. And my goodness are we excited.
According to the report, the Orioles are bringing back the orange pants for the upcoming year. When paired with the orange tops, the O's will be able to rock an all-orange look that's going to steal the show.
The O's most recently brought this look back in 2010, but it was just for a throwback event. The team didn't have the option to pull these fits out whenever they wanted to that year, or in any year in recent memory. The team had the all-orange uniforms in regular rotation back in 1971 and 1972, but it's been over 50 years since they pulled these out on a regular basis. Thankfully, that's about to change.
Interestingly, the Orioles reportedly won't have to commit to the all-orange look, either. They'll have the option to pair the orange pants with any of their other three jersey options, those being the home whites, the road grays, or the black alternates. The O's will keep the City Connect uniforms in rotation as well.

As Orioles' Hall of Famer Jim Palmer mentioned on X, the team was quite good when these uniforms were last in rotation. Those 1971 Orioles won 101 games, swept the Athletics in the ALCS, and narrowly lost game 7 of the World Series to the Pirates. Palmer, Mike Cuellar, and Dave McNally all finished top-5 in the AL Cy Young voting that year, and that group combined to win a stunning 68 games between them.
It'll be interesting to see how the organization deploys these uniforms. For example, the team wore the City Connect uniforms for every Friday home game in 2024. It's not clear whether that pattern will continue, but it'll open up the option for the O's to get creative if they don't. It's possible the Orioles could utilize the all-orange uniforms for Sunday home games, or weekend night games. Regardless of what the plan is, we're excited to see these in action.
