Projecting Dylan Beavers in 2026 must feel nearly impossible for the Orioles

Baltimore Orioles outfielder Dylan Beavers is one of the more interesting prospects in Baltimore’s organization. The 2022 first-round draft pick showed some real promise in his first MLB action last season, but his minor league numbers have been so volatile that Baltimore must be scratching its head as it tries to determine what can be expected from Beavers in 2026.

In 35 games last season, Beavers slashed .227/.375/.400 with four home runs and 14 runs batted in. Not jaw-dropping numbers by any stretch, but enough for the O’s to give him a chance to be part of an outfield mix that will likely also include recently acquired Taylor Ward, Leody Taveras, Colton Cowser, and Tyler O’Neill among others.

Beavers could certainly stake a claim to be a starter, but it is difficult to get a read on him when looking at his minor league stats.

Orioles cannot be sure what they will get out of Dylan Beavers in 2026

Drafted out of Cal Berkeley where he was compared to Christian Yelich, Beavers had a promising 2023 in his first full season of minor league ball. In A-ball and Double-A, he slashed .288/.383/.467 with 11 homers and 60 runs batted in. Those numbers got people excited about his potential to take the next step the following season, but he took a bit of a step back.

In 2024 with Baltimore’s Double-A and Triple-A affiliates, Beavers slashed a collective .242/.342/.408 with 15 homers and 54 driven in. The average certainly took a dip although his ability to draw a walk remained solid.

Beavers spent 2025 in Norfolk prior to his call up to the big leagues, and he put up some truly impressive numbers. In 94 games he slashed .304/.420/.515 with 18 home runs and 51 runs driven in. That was obviously enough to earn him a promotion to the Show, but can he translate those impressive minors numbers from 2025 to the big leagues?

There has been some fluctuation when it comes to his batting average and his power numbers so it may take a little time for him to become a consistent hitter in the big leagues. But the fact that he has gotten on base at a high rate at all levels is what could keep him in the big leagues even as he still figures out how to hit big league pitching.

It may be tough to project exactly how Beavers will fare in 2026, but even with his somewhat jagged trajectory of minor league numbers and brief big league stint, he seems to be trending upwards heading into next season and it would not be a surprise if he has a breakout year
