Orioles 2024 schedule released: key matchups abound in 2024
The Orioles 2024 schedule was released during the All Star Break
While the Baltimore Orioles are enjoying a breakout 2023 season, it's never to early to look ahead to 2024. One day before Major League Baseball will resume the 2023 season following an exciting All Star Break, the league released the schedule for the 2024 season. As a reminder, Major League Baseball returned to a balanced schedule in 2023, with the Orioles set to face every team in the league. The Orioles will travel to face National League teams whom they hosted, and will host National League teams whom they visited, in 2023. Let's have at it.
Baltimore Orioles 2024 schedule released
For the first time since 2018, the Orioles will open their season at home. On March 28, 2024, the Orioles will welcome the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim for a three-game series, followed by a three-game home series against the Kansas City Royals. The Angels series will be especially intriguing, as it may be the first time the Orioles see the Halos without MVP frontrunner Shohei Ohtani, who is a free agent this winter and is expected to command the largest contract in baseball history. Even without Ohtani, the Angels will have plenty of star power, as perennial Angel Mike Trout is expected to begin his 13th season in Los Angeles.
For their first road series, the Orioles will travel to Pittsburgh to take on the upstart Pirates, who are currently enjoying their best season in years. Additionally, the Orioles will face the up-and-coming Reds in Cincinnati for a three-game weekend series at the beginning of May in what figures to be one of the more exciting series of the season.
Another notable interleague series include a rare trip to St. Louis to face the Cardinals, a city the Orioles have only played in once since 2003. Other National League Parks the team will visit in 2024 that we do not regularly see include Coors Field in Colorado, Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles, Citi Field in New York, and LoanDepot Park in Miami.
The Orioles will not face the current American League East leading Tampa Bay Rays under May 31, when the Orioles welcome Tampa to Camden Yards for a weekend series The month of June will be particularly challenging for the Orioles, who will face Tampa Bay six times, Toronto four times, Texas four times, plus Atlanta, Houston, and the Yankees three times.
Following the 2024 All-Star game in Arlington Texas, the Orioles will visit Globe Life Park to visit the Rangers for a three-game weekend series. Hopefully, several Orioles will be able to stay in Texas for the entire week, if you catch my drift.
The Orioles conclude the 2024 season with a six-game road trip to New York and Minnesota. Of course, the Orioles just completed a six-game road trip through New York and Minnesota and won 5 of 6 games, including a commanding three-game sweep over the Twins just before the break. We can only hope for more of the same in 2024.
As the Orioles return to play against the Miami Marlins with the third-best record in the league at 54-35, the next few months will be incredibly fun in Birdland. But with Major League Baseball releasing its schedule for the 2024 season, it is never too early to look ahead to 2024 and start marking your calendars for what should be another exciting season.
