Before the Baltimore Orioles traded for infielder Blaze Alexander earlier this month, there was speculation that a reunion with Ramon Urias could make sense. Urias' versatility had been a staple on the Orioles' roster before he was traded to the Houston Astros at the deadline last summer. Alexander's arrival made a reunion with Urias less likely, but the sudden injuries to Jackson Holliday and Jordan Westburg may have crept the door back open.
Holliday is recovering from hand surgery and is expected to be sidelined for a couple of weeks after Opening Day. Westburg entered camp with an oblique injury, and while the early timelines were optimistic, that may no longer be the case.
Craig Albernaz's latest injury update on Westburg suggests that there may be some concern creeping in.
Orioles infielder Jordan Westburg is unable to participate currently, manager Craig Albernaz said. He declined to say whether it’s Westburg’s elbow or oblique. He said Westburg is being evaluated

Jordan Westburg's ominous update may point the Orioles in the direction of Ramon Urias
The Orioles' infield depth is suddenly in question. Assuming both Westburg and Holliday aren't ready in time for Opening Day, Mike Elias and Co. may be forced to make a move. Operating under that scenario, it would seem likely that Alexander would take over at second base with Coby Mayo getting a run at third base. If nothing else, Baltimore would need more depth options available on their bench.
That could be how Urias' return comes into focus.
Based on how Urias looked as he closed out the season with the Astros, he can likely be had on a minor-league deal. After the trade from the Orioles, the 31-year-old infielder slashed .223/.267/.372 in 101 plate appearances with the Astros while posting a wRC+ of 76. Given his ability to play all over the infield, Urias would be an ideal insurance policy for the Orioles. Not to mention, it may allow them to keep advancing their trade efforts.
The Orioles are reportedly exploring a trade involving both Mayo and Ryan Mountcastle. It seems unlikely that Mayo would be dealt while both Holliday and Westburg are out, but if nothing else, Urias would give them some added leverage in trade talks.
