The Baltimore Orioles finally got out of their home-game losing streak in a close game against their AL East rivals.

Hopefully, the walk-off win against the Red Sox will get the Baltimore Orioles onto a winning streak at Camden Yards.

While the wins are good, the 5-4 game also marked another hit for Anthony Santander. With his home run in the 8th inning, he officially moved his active hitting streak to 17 games. After Saturday night’s game, he is now hitting .338/.390/.803.

So, you don’t have to do the math, that’s an OPS of 1.192. Yowza!

The Saturday night game began as a pitching duel with the Orioles struggling to get anything by fly balls off of Martin Perez. Until Pat Valaika hit one deep in the bottom of the 2nd to put the Orioles on the board.

The Birds stayed in the lead until the top of the 5th when Jackie Bradley Jr went yard off of Alex Cobb. Then, the next two batters combined to get another run in, and the Red Sox took the lead. Five innings was clearly all that Cobb could manage on Saturday.

It looked like the Red Sox were going to win with Shawn Armstrong struggling in relief. They scored their third run when Kevin Pillar knocked in Mitch Moreland.

Thankfully, baseball doesn’t have a time limit. The Orioles tied the game off of the two-run Santander bomb in the 8th, and the teams took it to extra innings.

Cole Sulser had a messy 10th inning, giving up three walks to give the Red Sox one more run on the night. Fortunately, Matt Barnes struggled with the Orioles in the 10th, too. After the sac bunt to move Rio Ruiz to third, his wild pitch resulted in a run scored. After putting a few more runners on, Pedro Severino hit the walk-off single to win the game.

With this win, the Orioles move to 13-14, putting them 4.5 game back behind the AL East leaders – the Tampa Bay Rays. The Blue Jays are a game ahead of the Orioles. The Red Sox and Angels are tied for the worst record in the AL at .391 or 9-19. The Pirates have the worst record in the MLB with .261.

The Orioles play one more in the home-stand series against the Red Sox this afternoon. Zack Godley and his 6.87 ERA faces off against Wade LeBlanc and his 7.89 ERA. We could see a slug-fest today at Camden Yards.
