After a four-game sweep at the hands of the Marlins, the Baltimore Orioles get a big win against the Beltway rivals.

The Baltimore Orioles earned a 11-0 win against the World Series champs and it sure was fun to watch.

Of course, the Orioles scored several runs the night before against the Marlins, but they lost one run.

There were numerous highlights from the Orioles on both offense and defense, and every offensive starter except Rio Ruiz earned a hit off of the Nats pitching. The aggressive Orioles went after Anibal Sanchez quickly, getting on base hitting several of his first pitches.

Not to discount Ruiz’s performance, as it was his first showing after sitting out the Marlins series with a sore right shoulder. He did get on base with a walk and scored a run in the second.

Tommy Milone‘s pitching was one of the highlights of the game as he held the Nats bats to three hits. And, Jose Iglesias continued his tear against any ball that comes within range of his bat. Overall, the Orioles combined for 19 hits with 10 of them off of Anibal Sanchez in the first 5.1 innings.

Once

Anthony Santander

had his first at-bat and

Victor Robles

missed the ball, it looked like the O’s were going to have a good day against Sanchez. Then, Iglesias hit another double to easily score Santander. Iglesias now has seven doubles in the 2020 season.

The Orioles are currently tied for for second in the MLB with 29 doubles. They share the honor with the Braves. With that double, Iglesias is now tied with three other players for first in the MLB – including his former teammate JD Martinez. Hanser Alberto is in a tie for second with a handful of players including Mookie Betts.

By the time the night was done, Iglesias was 4-4 with three RBI, Pedro Severino was 3-5 with two RBI, and three batters went 2-5: Chris Davis, Hanser Alberto, and Santander. Down in the ninth hole, Austin Hays also went 3-5 for the night. Of the starting lineup, only Severino did not cross home plate.

Another highlight for the night belonged to Renato Nunez. Fortunately, the streaky hitter got to his positive streak early. He hit a bomb to left-center. The timely bomb also plated Santander and Iglesias. In the same inning, Dwight Smith Jr.and Pedro Severino got in on the action with a pair of doubles. Severino earned an RBI on his.

With his home run tonight, Nunez has three of them in the last two games. He hit two solos on Thursday, but it wasn’t enough to get the team over the Marlins.

Nunez hit the only home run. All of the rest were manufactured with timely hitting. The Orioles hit seven doubles on the night. Alberto had two.

Chris Davis also got in on the action with his own double and a single on the night. He also scored a run off of an Alberto fielder’s choice in the second.
