The writing was on the wall for most of the season, but the decision was made today that Buck Showalter will not be returning to the Baltimore Orioles in any capacity within the organization

We can never underestimate how much of an impact Buck Showalter had on the Baltimore Orioles. Before he got here, the Orioles were stuck in consecutive losing seasons that lasted twelve years.

Up until this 2018 campaign, Showalter had a winning record in nine seasons as the manager in Baltimore. He brought winning back to a city that desperately needed it.

His teams made the playoffs three times and made it to the American League Championship Series in 2014. Showalter’s record in Baltimore was 669-684.

Before Showalter arrived, the team wasn’t going anywhere. This organization needed someone like Buck to change the culture of the locker room and get the best out of every player on the roster.

Let’s not forget his commitment to the community and his charitable foundations. He and his wife were tremendous in the community and everyone loved them.

It would’ve been great for the Orioles to win a World Series with Buck during his tenure in Baltimore and the best chance they had was in 2014. That roster was stacked but happened to run into a hot and young Kansas City Royals team.

Who knows who will end up managing the Baltimore Orioles in 2019, but it’s safe to say that they will only be here for the rebuild. There will be some growing pains for whoever leads Baltimore in the next few years due to the roster overhaul.

The Orioles head into 2019 in rebuild-mode. dark. Next

As much as the fans came out to cheer Adam Jones at the end of 2018, the fans should’ve done more for Buck Showalter as well. He brought the winning culture back to the Orioles that had been missing for quite some time.
