The first Baltimore Orioles regular season game of 2018 will be played on Thursday, March 29. Every MLB team will play this day.

Until then, Baltimore Orioles fans have to wade through the awards season and the Hot Stove season.

Fortunately, those long nights without baseball will go faster with the plethora of activities that happen in the off-season. While the players are off enjoying vacations, general managers are busy trying to fill holes while maintaining budgets. At Birdswatcher, we will do our best to cover and analyze all of the events.

Today, November 7 was the official day that free agency began for players.

Award Shows start November 7

November 7 is also the day that Gold Glove winners will be announced. Manny Machado is a finalist and is already a proud owner of two of them. These are announced at 9 PM ET on ESPN.

The Player’s Choice Awards are announced on November 8 at 8 PM ET on MLB Network. These awards include Player of the Year, Outstanding Rookie, and Comeback Player of the Year. The winners are selected by Major League baseball players. The only Oriole who has been nominated for any awards is Trey Mancini, who was nominated for AL Outstanding Rookie.

According to MLB.com, November 9 is the day that the Louisville Silver Slugger awards are announced. They will be announced on MLB Network and the show begins at 6 PM ET. No finalists are announced, just winners. Mark Trumbo was the only Orioles player who won one in 2016.
