Baltimore Orioles: Fangraphs ranks Orioles last in division

Fangraphs has released their latest projections for the American League East. And if you’re a fan of the Baltimore Orioles…well, you might not like the rankings.

The Baltimore Orioles have yet to acquire a player for their 2017 team. Not to mention they’re on the verge of losing Mark Trumbo, Matt Wieters and Pedro Alvarez.

So, it’s not much of a surprise that they’re not at the top of the latest American League East rankings. Fangraphs released their new rankings prior to the season and given the way the Orioles are right now, they are at the bottom of the barrel.

Here is how the teams would rank at the end of the season based on mathematical analysis:

Now, I’m aware that what occurs on paper means nothing once the teams take the field. However, based on the projections, the Orioles have some serious work to do this offseason.

The team needs to improve behind the plate and they are on the lookout for a new outfielder. So far, the Orioles have been talking to Welington Castillo to replace Wieters, but Wieters is still an option for Baltimore.

However, the Orioles are responding to the offseason in Orioles fashion, meaning the team isn’t making a move until late in the offseason. And if the Orioles are unable to fill the spots via the free agent market, you wonder if they’ll play the same as Fangraphs projected them.
