The Baltimore Orioles are looking to stay hot in Dean Kremer's starts.

The Baltimore Orioles easily won their series opener with the Chicago White Sox on Monday night, putting up nine runs in a 9-0 win at Camden Yards.

Now, the O’s are looking to pick up another win with Dean Kremer on the mound. Baltimore has thrived in his starts in 2023, going 19-7 in those games.

Chicago counters with rookie Jesse Scholtens, who has worked out of the bullpen and in the rotation this season. In August, he exclusively started for the White Sox.

White Sox vs. Orioles prediction and pick

Chicago’s season is all but done, as the team has fallen way short of expectations in 2023.

Scholtens hasn’t been bad in his rookie season, but his ERA has soared since he became a full-time starter. He entered August with a 3.32 ERA and a 4.72 Fielding Independent Pitching.

However, those numbers have swelled to 4.15 and 4.92 respectively after his five August starts.

That’s going to be an issue against a Baltimore team that is No. 7 in the league in OPS over the last 15 days and has won eight of its last 10 games.

Scholtens has really struggled in his last two outings, allowing 10 runs across 8.2 innings of work. If he can’t turn in a quality start, it’s going to be hard for the White Sox to compete in this matchup.

Kremer has been far from lights out this season, posting a 4.74 FIP, but he’s been better since the start of July. In nine starts, Kremer has a 3.06 ERA and the Orioles are 8-1 in those games.

Baltimore has given him enough run support to win this season, and I think that it can do that one more time against Scholtens.

Back the O’s to win big on Tuesday night.
