The Rangers popped off on Friday night, beating the Orioles 12-2, what should we expect in the second meeting of three during the weekend?
The Orioles will hope that backend rotation arm Dean Kremer can put together a quality start against the Rangers, who counter with left hander Andrew Heaney. However, both offenses are incredibly explosive and have the upper hand on Saturday afternoon.
Let me break down why I'm backing the over on Saturday:
Rangers vs. Orioles odds, run line and total
Rangers vs. Orioles prediction and pick
Both offenses rank inside the top 10 in most hitting categories, and the pitching matchup yields itself to a high scoring matchup on Saturday.
We'll start the Orioles offense, which checks in eight in OPS against left handed pitching. Heaney has put himself in trouble this season with his inability to limit walks, he is putting about four batters on base per nine innings and his ERA is north of 4.00 with a Fielding Independent Pitching (FIP) that is nearing 5.00, which means that he has actaully been lucky once the ball is put in play.
Meanwhile, Kremer enters on a good run of late, allowing one run or fewer in three of his last four starts, but he continues to struggle to strike batters out, about seven per nine innings. If he isn't going to put batters down at the plate the Rangers will find ways to get runners in scoring position and bring them in. Texas is hitting .271 on the year and are third in OPS against righties this season.
Kremer has been pitching well, but I can't trust him against an offense with as much pop as the Rangers. I'll back the over on Saturday.
Game odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.
