The Baltimore Orioles are one win away from sweeping the Texas Rangers in their second series of the season, and they’ll have a special pitcher on the mound on Wednesday.

The team’s top pitching prospect, Grayson Rodriguez, has been called up to make his MLB debut on Wednesday against none other than former Cy Young Award winner Jacob deGrom.

Rodriguez, a first-round pick in the 2018 MLB Draft, has some nasty stuff and has dominated in AAA ball.

deGrom was roughed up by the Philadelphia Phillies in his first start, but the Rangers still found a way to win that game. Can Texas get back on track against the rookie Rodriguez, or do the O’s pull off the sweep?

Orioles vs. Rangers prediction and pick

It’s a rare moment that I’ll fade Jacob deGrom, but I trust the Orioles entire pitching staff to outlast deGrom in this game and pick up the win.

Baltimore has allowed just two runs so far in this series, including an impressive shutout performance that was orchestrated mainly by the bullpen after Kyle Bradish was injured in the second inning of his start.

There are certainly going to be some nerves for Rodriguez in his first MLB outing, but the team is clearly confident that he can handle thinks at the Major League level.

I don’t think the O’s will beat up on deGrom like Philly did, but he showed he is susceptible to a rough outing here and there. At this price, Baltimore is worth a shot on the moneyline.
