Marlins vs. Orioles prediction and odds for Sunday, July 16 (Fade Miami's Bullpen)

The Marlins will look to slow down Baltimore's lethal offense with a bullpen day and that might not be the best plan.

Heading into the All-Star break the Baltimore Orioles pulled the Tampa Bay Rays to within two games for the AL East lead.

Now, two games out of the hiatus they’ve kept the Rays right within reach. Baltimore is 56-35 after taking the first two in this series with the Miami Marlins. Last night it was a comeback win that dropped Miami to 53-41.

The Marlins will be trying to avoid the sweep today with Steven Okert on the mound. Okert is 3-0 with a 2.43 ERA in 37 appearances, all out of the bullpen.

Baltimore will counter Miami’s bullpen day with 5-4 Kyle Bradish with his 3.32 ERA. The O’s need to keep pace with Tampa Bay and they’re the favorites to win Game 3 of this interleague series at Camden Yards.

Let’s take a look at the odds.

Marlins vs. Orioles odds, run line and total

Marlins vs. Orioles prediction and pick

Last night, it was Gunnar Henderson’s homer in the seventh and Anthony Santander’s go-ahead RBI later that inning that completed the O’s comeback from a four-run deficit.

They can win in every which way and yesterday they did it with stellar bullpen play of their own and by taking advantage of Miami’s relievers. The Marlins covered 4.1 innings with their bullpen yesterday and it was Huascar Brazoban who surrendered those runs in the seventh inning.

Today, Miami will be asking a lot out of its bullpen to cover the full nine.

That bullpen which the Marlins will rely on is 20th in ERA this season with a 4.15. The Orioles offense on the other hand is looking like one of the best in the entire MLB.

They’re top 10 in OPS, runs scored, and home runs. This month, Henderson and Adley Rutschman have been their solid reliable selves at the plate and Anthony Santander has continued to be on a tear. He has a 1.058 OPS this month with six extra base hits and actually Adam Frazier is hitting .357 with a double and three home runs in eight games this month.

The Orioles have maybe their best starting pitcher on the mound against a below average Miami bullpen. The O’s look great out of the break, so let’s back them here.
