It's almost that time of year, baseball fans. Spring Training is close. Although the free agent market is moving slowly, Spring Training is drawing closer by the day, with all 30 teams going to sites in either Florida or Arizona for roughly a month and a half before the regular season begins.

For the Orioles, their spring home remains at Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota, Florida as they prepare for another season, this one filled with hopes of a deep playoff run and perhaps even a World Series title. With Spring so close, the question becomes when the first workouts will be.

When do workouts begin for the Orioles in Spring Training?

Last season, pitchers and catchers had a report date of February 15, with position players mandated to arrive by February 20. This year, those dates remain the same, with the mandatory report date for pitchers and catchers being February 15 with the position players five days later.

It is customary that players arrive at least a day before their mandatory report date, with pitchers usually arriving a few days before the 15th, even though their first workout isn't until the 15th. The same is true for position players, with a majority of them usually arriving before their first full squad workout on the 20th.

Once everyone reports to the facility in Sarasota, there will be a few days of just workouts scheduled before the slate of games gets started. Once it does begin, the Orioles only have two days without games, on March 7 and March 18.

The first game of the spring for the Orioles will be on February 24 at Ed Smith Stadium against a division rival in the Boston Red Sox, who call Fort Myers home for the spring. The last home game of the spring is a split squad game against the Toronto Blue Jays, while the other half travels to play the Tampa Bay Rays on March 23.

The final spring game for the Orioles is on March 24 in Fort Myers against the Minnesota Twins before they break camp and head home for opening day against the Los Angeles Angels on March 28 with a 3:05 PM first pitch scheduled.

Spring is almost here baseball fans. With it comes baseball season and all the storylines, intrigue, and drama that surround it. Are you excited yet?
