The Baltimore Orioles are a team on the rise, but they were humbled a bit over the weekend at home agianst the defending AL East champions New York Yankees, dropping two of three.

However, Baltimore has a chance to make up some ground against the lowly Oakland Athletics, who enter with the worst record in the big leagues already as they are right in line with projections to be in the basement of Major League Baseball.

How should we bet this series opener at Camden Yards on Monday? We got you covered:

Athletics vs. Orioles odds, run line and total

Athletics vs. Orioles prediction and pick

The Orioles will face a lowly offense in the A's who are hitting below .200 on the year, the second lowest in baseball. Unsurprisingly, the team is tied for the lowest amount of runs scored through nine games as well, posting 27 runs in 2023.

Baltimore is a big favorite, and are the better team, but it may be a bit of a grind to pull away from Oakland given its recent struggles against left handed pitching, which the A's have on the mound to start on Monday in JP Sears.

Last season Baltimore was 26th in batting average against lefties, hitting just .224. The team is way up this season to .281 which is slightly above average, but I do think we see some natural regression to the mean for a team that struggled against southpaws in a big way last season. I'm not sure I buy this big of a jump all season long.

Not to mention, Baltimore will likely have to the heavy lifting to get over the total due to the A's offensive struggles. It takes two to get over totals, and if I can't count on one, I'll go with the under.
