Update: The game is expected to resume at 8:25 p.m.

April showers are supposed to bring May flowers, not more rain. It appears Mother Nature didn’t get the memo, or maybe she doesn’t want to watch Baltimore Orioles baseball on the first Saturday in May.

The second game of a three-game set between the O's and the Kansas City Royals is delayed due to rain. Action was halted in the second inning after a scoreless first inning.

The Orioles are trying to secure their second straight series victory after they won 3-0 against the Royals on Friday night. It was Baltimore's first shutout win of the season, backed by seven scoreless innings from starting pitcher Dean Kremer. Ryan O'Hearn's two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh was enough to propel the O's to a third win in their last four games.

Tonight's game is being played in front of a national audience, with FOX picking up the broadcast. There's a great pitching matchup in store if the weather cooperates, as the Orioles have Tomoyuki Sugano slated to go against Royals lefty Kris Bubic. The duo has a combined 2.60 ERA in 12 starts.

Orioles vs. Royals rain delay updates: Forecast at Camden Yards

The weather doesn’t look promising for a ballgame to happen at Camden Yards tonight. The National Weather Service expects showers and thunderstorms before 2 a.m. Sunday with potentially half an inch of rain coming down. More rain is expected during the day on Sunday and into the week as the Mid-Atlantic region gets slammed by storms.

If Saturday's game is canned, it might be tough to get a doubleheader in Sunday due to multiple factors. The inclement weather is one thing, but the Royals also have to head back home for a game in Kansas City on Monday.

The two teams will do anything they can to get both games in considering they don't play each other again this season. Trying to find a day where the Orioles and Royals are both off somewhere down the line could become an issue.

For now, there's some hope the series can finish this weekend. Stay tuned for updates regarding tonight's game.
