UPDATE, 7:07 PM: The first pitch has been thrown, and the Orioles are underway after a 31-minute delay.

The series finale between the Baltimore Orioles and St. Louis Cardinals will not start on time Wednesday night. The O's announced the game is delayed due to inclement weather at Camden Yards. It's the second straight day the tarp is on the field in Baltimore, though Tuesday's game started on time and was played in its entirety without a stoppage.

Rain was persistent all day in Baltimore and has the potential to remain for the rest of the evening. The O's and Cards played through damp conditions Tuesday night.

The Orioles are trying to avoid their sixth series loss in May after splitting the first two games against the Cardinals. Baltimore won its third straight game in the series opener on Monday. It was the first time the O's won three in a row this season. The Cards answered with a comeback win on Tuesday, scoring four runs in the seventh and eighth innings to overcome Ryan O'Hearn's go-ahead homer in the fifth.

Orioles, Cardinals prepare for series finale in Baltimore

The Orioles plan to send Cade Povich to the mound to start Wednesday aganist the Cardinals. Povich tossed five innings of one-run ball in his last start on May 23. Baltimore's bullpen then allowed 18 runs in three innings. The O's fell to 3-6 in games Povich started.

Opposing Povich is Cardinals right-hander Miles Mikolas. The veteran is 1-0 with a 2.92 ERA in two career starts against the Orioles. He pitched seven innings and faced four over the minimum in his last start against Baltimore in 2022.

Two key players return to the lineup for the O's on Wednesday. Adley Rutschman will be the designated hitter and bat second after missing two games. Cedric Mullins was also held out of the last two games but returns to play center field. He'll bat seventh in Baltimore's lineup.
