The wait is finally over. Even as the east coast deals with another snow storm, Baltimore Orioles fans are able to start spring in their hearts as Orioles pitchers and catchers begin reporting to spring training this week. The Birds will be counting on their young core to continue to improve and build on their recent success.
Many of the main pieces of the Orioles roster are returning but their are a lot of new faces. The O's were busy over the offseason and added seven new players to their major league roster. Here are all of the jersey numbers the newest Birds will be wearing this season.
Tyler O'Neill #9
Tyler O'Neill will be dawning the number 9 for the Orioles in 2025, his fourth different jersey number in the majors. Keon Broxton is the most recent Oriole to wear the number, which he did in 2019. Oriole greats Brady Anderson and Jim Dwyer, along with Reggie Jackson previously wore the number 19 as well.
Gary Sanchez #99
Gary Sanchez will continue wearing the number 99, as he did the last two seasons with the San Diego Padres and Milwaukee Brewers. He will be just the second Oriole to wear the number in franchise history, after Jesus Aguilar did it first in 2022.
Tomoyuki Sugano #19
The number 18 in Japan is considered the "ace number", worn by many Japanese pitchers. Manager Brandon Hyde already owns that number so Tomoyuki Sugano will be wearing number 19. I don't think he's too upset about it as Sugano wore number 19 when he pitched in Japan. Fellow Japanese star Koji Uehara also wore number 19 with the O's in the late 2000's.
Charlie Morton #50
Wearing number 50 for his fifth different franchise, Charlie Morton is putting together quite the jersey collection. He has also dawned the numbers 63, 37 and 47 and the Orioles will be his sixth major league team. The number 50 was most recently donned by righty Bruce Zimmerman, who wore it from 2021-2023.
Andrew Kittredge #39
It was unknown if Kyle Bradish, who wore 39 in 2023, had any desire to reclaim the number after giving it to Corbin Burnes last season. It appears that Bradish is happy with 38 and Andrew Kittredge will wear 39 in 2025.
Dylan Carlson #15
Taking over the number 15 is Dylan Carlson. Like Kittredge, Carlson will also be wearing his third different number on his third team. Both players also previously played for the St. Louis Cardinals and Tampa Bay Rays, and will now team up in Baltimore.
Ramon Laureano #12
In 2017 Seth Smith played the outfield for the Orioles wearing number 12. Since then, six different players have worn 12 for the O's and all six players (Engelb Vielma, Stevie Wilkerson, Rougned Odor, Adam Frazier, Tony Kemp and Connor Norby) primarily played second base. Ramon Laureano will return the number to the outfield after an impressive run.
