Orioles News 12/4/22 – Kyle Gibson signs, Zack Britton, and other MLB news

Orioles and SP Kyle Gibson agree to one year deal

The Baltimore Orioles have signed yet another free agent, this time agreeing to terms with 35 year old starting pitcher Kyle Gibson. Gibson spent the last season and a half with the Phillies before reaching free agency and appears to be a replacement for the departed Jordan Lyles, whom I hope finds an endless buffet of innings wherever he chooses to play next.

Should the Orioles give Zack Britton a ring?

I get it, things got a little awkward at the end. There was the whole thing about stranding him in the bullpen during the most important game of the season, the Achilles, and the trade. But hasn’t this whole separation with Zack Britton been a bit much?  Shouldn’t we move on and get back together again? I make the argument that the Orioles absolutely should consider bringing their former star closer back into the fold. There’s still plenty of magic to be made together. Orioles magic, even.
