Astros splash for Jose Abreu

The reigning World Series champions aren’t interested in taking a step back just yet, and they gave an already loaded offense even more firepower. 1B Jose Abreu inked a three year deal with Houston in the neighborhood of $60 million. The sticker price was a bit shocking at first given the slugger will be 36 on Opening Day, but there’s no questioning his bat; Abreu still mashes and will surely take advantage of the short porch in left field. This move also suggests that Trey Mancini will be playing elsewhere in 2023, which will be of great interest to Orioles fans.
