Orioles Handily Sweep the Rangers in Texas (8/3/22)

The Orioles swept the Rangers on the road.

The Orioles came into Texas on a redemption tour after dropping the series to Cincinnati.  They swept the Rangers and scored a total of 21 runs in the series.

The Orioles starting lineup:

C. Mullins CF, 2. A. Rutschman DH, 3. A. Santander RF, 4. R. Mountcastle 1B, 5. R. Urias 2B, 6. R. McKenna LF, 7. J. Mateo SS B, 8. T. Nevin 3B, 9. R. Chirinos C

The starting pitcher for the O’s was Kyle Bradish (1-4, 7.01 ERA)

The Rangers lineup:

M. Semien SS, 2. C. Seager DH, 3.J. Heim C, 4. N. Lowe 1B, 5. A. Garcia RF, 6. L. Taveras CF, 7. E. Duran 3B, 8. J. Smith LF, 9. C. Culberson 3B

The Rangers pitcher was Martin Perez (9-2, 2.52 ERA).

The Rangers got an early 1-0 lead on an Adolis Garcia single to score Corey Seager.

Ryan McKenna had other plans for the Rangers as he tied the game with a 435-foot homerun (2). The score was then 1-1.

Bradish got himself out of a bases-loaded situation with a jumping snag to end the 2nd inning.

The Orioles had a chance in the 5th inning with bases loaded, but left the runners stranded.

Bryan Baker (4.15 ERA) relieved Kyle Bradish in the 6th. Bradish had 5 strikeouts with 93 pitches.

Dillon Tate (2.19 ERA) came in for Baker in the same inning, with runners on first and second. The O’s turned a double play to get out of the inning.

Matt Moore (1.66 ERA) relieved Martin Perez who had 9 strikeouts in 95 pitches.  Robinson Chirinos blasted his 3rd home run of the season for a 407-foot home run to give the O’s a 2-1 lead in the 7th.

Jose Leclerc (4.05 ERA) came in for Matt Moore with two runners on.

Jonah Heim hit a solo 346-foot home run (13) to tie the game 2-2.

Cionel Perez (1.25 ERA) relieved Tate in the 7th.

Brett Phillips makes his Orioles debut pinch-hitting for Ryan McKenna and struck out looking on a borderline pitch.

Terrin Vavra pinch-hit and hit an RBI double to score Jorge Mateo. Robinson Chirinos hit a single and scored Vavra. The O’s take the lead 4-2.  This was Vavra’s first career extra-base hit and first RBI.

Jonathan Hernandez (0.00 ERA) came in for the Rangers in the 9th.  Anthony Santander hit an RBI double to score Adley Rutschman to pad the Orioles’ lead to 5-2. Santander then scored on a wild pitch. 6-2 O’s.

Felix Bautista (1.65 ERA) came in for the O’s to finish out the game.

Marcus Semien hit a 406-foot home run (15) to bring the score to 6-3, but the Rangers could amass nothing more.

The Orioles travel back to Camden Yards to take on the Pirates in a 3-game series starting on Friday, August 5th at 7:05 PM EST.  The Birds have an off day tomorrow.
