After a series loss against the Yankees, the Baltimore Orioles slugger had a few historic home runs to discuss, including a walk-off Thursday afternoon.

Up until yesterday afternoon, things were looking pretty doom and gloom for the Baltimore Orioles. Three straight losses from the hands of the Yankees and six consecutive losses in total. However, Anthony Santander changed all that with a flick of his wrist and an Earl Weaver type of home run.

The O’s slugger touched them all three times this week, bringing his season total to seven. However, to tell the whole tale, we need to go back to Monday night, where a not-so-good headline started the Yankees series and the start of a weird HR sequence for Anthony Santander.

Tony Taters started off the week with a 2-4 endeavor and a 2-HR evening. We all know how the rest of the game went, but things would only get weirder as the night closed. After Monday night, Santander had now had six multi-HR games; unfortunately, the O’s were now 0-6 when he has hit more than one HR in a game.

Anthony Santander is not new to longball. However, it almost appeared that when he had a massive outing, the Baltimore Orioles did not. This series was all but over, leaving a sour taste in the mouth of Charm City, but everything was about to change.

After the Orioles tied it, then took the lead, lost it, got it back, and then lost it again, the bottom of the 9th seemed like the best time to send the Orioles fans home; happy! After an Austin Hays single on an error and a Trey Mancini laser to CF, all eyes led to Santander.

Tony lifted a shot to deep leftfield with one swing of the bat. At first, it looked like it would either be a hard-hit single or, at best, enough to get Hays home from second and a walk-off base hit. However, as the ball continued to carry, it continued its trajectory and made it to the seats.

That was the first career walk-off for Anthony Santander and just what the Baltimore Orioles needed to get the losing monkey off their back. The O’s will now hope to take this momentum into the Ray series before facing off against the Yankees again next week.
