Yesterday, rumors were swirling over a potential Paul McCartney concert announcement at Oriole Park at Camden Yards after the Baltimore Orioles put out a major announcement press release on Thursday morning.
The rumors about a Paul McCartney concert coming to Oriole Park at Camden Yards were in fact true as the Baltimore Orioles officially announced the concert that will be taking place on June 12th. Tickets will go on sale Friday, February 25th at 10 AM.
Paul McCartney becomes the second big-time performer to play at Oriole Park at Camden Yards since Billy Joel came to Camden Yards in 2019. The last time the former Beatle played in Baltimore was in 1964 during the first North American tour with the Beatles.
The Baltimore Orioles started the Birdland Summer Music Series in 2018 that has featured some up-and-coming artists as part of a Friday Fireworks and Music series. Paul McCartney’s “GOT BACK” tour starts on April 28th in Spokane, Washington, and ends on June 16th in East Rutherford, New Jersey. This tour is only stopping in 13-cities and the last time McCartney went on tour was in the summer of 2019.
Oriole Park at Camden Yards has always been known as one of the best ballparks in all of baseball, but it never hosted anything else besides baseball games. By adding more events beyond baseball games, it gives people who aren’t just baseball fans a chance to see just how beautiful Camden Yards is.
By bringing in performers like Billy Joel and Paul McCartney to Camden Yards, the revenue stream will likely increase for the Orioles and make it so more big-time performers make their way to Oriole Park at Camden Yards in the future. I know this is a stretch, but why not have the NHL’s Stadium Series come to Camden Yards featuring the Washington Capitals? Having hockey played at Camden Yards in the Winter would be amazing to see, especially with the Warehouse in the background.
