“Most Artistic”- Outfielder Austin Hays

Baseball is a beautiful art form that is extremely hard to turn away from. From watching unbelievable diving plays in the outfield, to Manny Machado-like plays from the infield, to seeing what major league pitchers can do with a baseball, it’s nearly impossible to sit down, watch a baseball game, and not walk away without seeing at least one jaw-dropping moment.

Often times, the style of art displayed by the Baltimore Orioles was a lot like me trying to paint a masterpiece, it was a complete disaster. However, there was a bright shining moment at the end of the season that left fans with a renewed sense of excitement after a very long summer.

The superlative for “Most Artistic” goes to outfielder Austin Hays. From his lack of batting gloves to playing in the dirt in between each pitch, to his play in the outfield, Austin Hays is art. Sometimes it’s interpretive and it’s better to not ask how he produced the final product, but it all comes out looking like a million bucks in the end.

Coincidently, as I was finishing up this piece, the Baltimore Orioles released this tweet which does a perfect job of displaying this art.
