Will Trey Mancini end his home run drought against Texas?

Plenty of left-handed pitching and a staff that ranks eighth in baseball with 200 home runs allowed await Trey Mancini when the Rangers come into town for this four-game set. It seems like the perfect opportunity for Trey Mancini to break out of his current home run slump.

Mancini’s last home run came on August 12th in game two of a doubleheader at Yankee Stadium. He also hit one earlier in game one, giving him a career-high 29 on the season. But the third-year Orioles slugger has been silent ever since, managing just 16 hits in 19 games and currently riding a 69-at-bat streak without a home run.

The slump will end eventually, but it doesn’t take away from the big season Mancini is having after a down 2018 campaign. Currently hitting .274 with a .347 OBP and .858 OPS, Mancini has also put up career-highs in doubles (30), walk rate (9.2%), wRC+ (123), fWAR (2.2), and has cut his strikeout rate from 24% to 20.9%, a career-low.

We can worry about the contract or potential offseason trade a bit later. For now, sit back and enjoy the 2019 version of Trey Mancini, and hopefully a home run or two this weekend.
