The Baltimore Orioles will look to snap a nine-game losing streak to the Yankees when they come to town for a three-game series beginning Monday evening.

Fresh off a series spilt with the Toronto Blue Jays, the Baltimore Orioles (38-73) are set to play more divisional baseball as they welcome in the American League East-leading New York Yankees (72-39) to Camden Yards for a three-game series starting Monday night.

It will be the first time the Orioles and Yankees have played since the Bombers swept a four-game series at Camden Yards back in May. Since taking two out of three from the Yankees in the season’s opening series, Baltimore has lost nine straight to New York and have been outscored 71-36.

The two-clubs will play seven games in the next nine days to complete their season series as the Orioles will visit the Bronx for a four-game series that includes a double-header on Monday, August 12th.

A big reason for the Orioles struggles against the Yankees has been their inability to slow down 22-year-old infielder Gleyber Torres. Torres is slashing an unbelievable 465/.531/1.233 in 50 plate appearances against Baltimore this season. In addition, he has hit ten home runs with four multi-home run games. It’s safe to say Orioles play by play broadcaster Gary Thorne is probably not looking forward to watching Torres hit against the O’s this week.

While Torres has destroyed the Orioles one Baltimore bat has had great success against the Yankees pitching staff.

That bat would be, Renato Nunez who is slashing .294/.368/.588 against the Yankees pitching staff and has six home runs. Four of those home runs came against J.A. Happ who unfortunately is not scheduled to pitch against the Orioles as he pitched in the Yankees Sunday night game against the Red Sox.

The probable pitchers for the series for the Orioles will be Gabriel YnoaAsher Wojciechowski and all-star John Means who will make his return from the 10-day injured list.

As for New York, they will go with Masahiro Tanaka, a combination of relievers which will likely be highlighted by Chad Green and Nestor Cortes Jr. and then James Paxton in the series finale.
