Surprise Player: Renato Nunez

After hitting seven home runs in 60 games as an Oriole in 2018 journeyman, Renato Nunez earned the opportunity to return in 2019.

Entering 2019 Nunez’s previous single-season carer high in home runs was eight combined with the Orioles and Rangers last season. In 2019 Nunez’s power has broken out in a big way as he leads the team is tied for tenth in the American League with 20 home runs.

While is On Base Percentage is only .304 and slugging is .495 Nunez’s power has produced 49 runs and has helped the Orioles stay in games that without a long-ball could’ve been a lot uglier.

Seeing a player that many did not know existed up until the end of last season hit to a home run pace near 40 easily wins the honor of surprise player.
