In the off-season, there are signings and then there are SIGNINGS. And, Baltimore Orioles fans are wondering what type of off-season the Birds will have.

Looking at the top 10 free agents, there are a few players that would certainly be beneficial to the Baltimore Orioles hopes for post-season play.

With players like Manny Machado and Zach Britton having only one more guaranteed year with the O’s, this could be the year that Dan Duquette goes big. Where will the top 10 go?

The list of top 10 free agents for the 2017-18 off-season is courtesy of Jim Duquette from MLB.com. This list is full of men who would be serious SIGNINGS, as they would bring their skill and status to the game. Duquette published this list at the end of August.

Numbers One and Two won’t end up in Baltimore

Yu Darvish. He has popped up on several top 10 lists, despite his poor showing in the World Series. He will be 31 and the guy can pitch. The Orioles could use a franchise pitcher like Darvish. But since they need at least three starters, it is unlikely that Dan Duquette would sign someone like Darvish to a massive multi-year contract. But, Darvish’s inability to be effective on the biggest stage in the Game 7 of the World Series might make him more affordable. He might end up back with the Dodgers, otherwise, I hear the Angels need a rotation to fit with their mighty bats.

Jake Arrieta. He already pitched for the Orioles. So, it is safe to say he probably won’t do it again. Since leaving the O’s, he’s been one of the most dominant pitchers in the game. When he was in Birdland, he had a 5.46 ERA, post-Birdland, his ERA dropped to 2.73. There’s no chance he’s coming back to Baltimore.
