When it comes to power hitters, Welington Castillo might not be the first name that comes to mind. But, in August, he has delivered it. Unlike Machado and Beckham, Castillo splits his time so he has only played in five games so far in August. But, in those five games he has two home runs.

Better yet, he has hit in every game in August. His to-date slash is .288/.322/.464 with an OPS of .786. In his five August games, he is hitting .389/.368/.778 with an OPS of 1.146.

What is so impressive about Castillo’s August is what he was doing prior to the change in the month. In 17 games in April, he hit one home run. He hit three in May and in June he hit four. July wasn’t as good as he only hit two 14 games. Now, in five games – two home runs is seriously impressive.

Castillo has hit home runs in previous seasons, but if his August streak continues, he could top his home run numbers. His best season was 2015 where he hit 19 of them when he played with three different teams – the Cubs, Mariners, and Diamondbacks. In 2016, with the D-backs, he hit 14.
