2. Manny Machado

Manny Machado got the year off to a really rough start, as he didn’t get his batting average above .200 until the 16th game of the year.

However, Machado really picked things up in the month of May. He is hitting .298 this month and is now hitting .280 on the year with six home runs and 11 doubles.

Machado trails Mike Moustakas (Royals), Josh Donaldson (Toronto Blue Jays), and Pablo Sandoval (Boston Red Sox) in the voting. I’d peg Donaldson as this year’s starter, but Machado has certainly made a case for himself to be one of the first men off the AL bench.
