Baltimore Orioles’ spring training TV schedule

You know that we’re starting to get close to the baseball coming back when we start seeing stories about the Baltimore Orioles and how man spring training games MASN will televise. The TV home of the Orioles will carry seven games this spring, starting on March 5th:

• Thursday, March 5 at 7 p.m.vs. Toronto
• Tuesday, March 10 at 1 p.m. vs. NY Yankees
• Saturday, March 14 at 1 p.m. vs. Tampa
• Tuesday, March 17 at 1 p.m. vs. Minnesota
• Wednesday, March 25 at 1 p.m. vs. Toronto
• Wednesday, April 1 at 7 p.m. vs. Pittsburgh
• Friday, April 3 at 6 p.m. vs. Atlanta

Presumably a combination of Gary Thorne, Jim Palmer, Jim Hunter, and Mike Bordick will call all of the games on MASN this spring. It appears that all of the games that MASN is televising are home games at Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota.

As has been covered here on Birds Watcher in the past, 105.7 “the fan,” WJZ is now the radio home of the Orioles. WJZ will also be airing twelve spring training games this year, with Joe Angel and Fred Manfra on the call:

• Wednesday, March 4 Detroit Tigers 1:05 p.m.
• Saturday, March 7 Boston Red Sox 1:05 p.m.
• Wednesday, March 11 Toronto Blue Jays 1:05 p.m.
• Saturday, March 14 Tampa Bay Rays 1:05 p.m.
• Sunday, March 15 at Pittsburgh Pirates 1:05 p.m.
• Saturday, March 21 at Minnesota Twins 1:05 p.m.
• Sunday, March 22 St. Louis Cardinals 1:05 p.m.
• Saturday, March 28 at New York Yankees 1:05 p.m.
• Sunday, March 29 Minnesota Twins 1:05 p.m.
• Wednesday, April 1 Pittsburgh Pirates 7:05 p.m.*
• Friday, April 3 Atlanta Braves 6:05 p.m.*
• Saturday, April 4 Atlanta Braves 3:05 p.m.*

*Includes 30-minute pre- and post-game shows.

For what it’s worth, the April 1st and April 3rd games will probably be the most interesting. Those games will come as most of the players will already be yearning to go north, and presumably they might be played more like regular season games than the others. Incidentally, all of the afternoon games will be replayed on MASN at 7 PM that evening.
