First off, it’s an honor to pen this column daily for Fansided and for fans of the Baltimore Orioles. It’s also an honor to have been nominated for the Baltimore Sun’s Mobby Award in the category of Best Pro Sports Blog. There are lots of great sites out there in this area, including Fansided’s own Baltimore Ravens site, Ebony Bird. The fact that we’re even listed in the contest tells me that we’re doing something right, and I appreciate that very much.

With America having gone to the polls earlier this week, we’re asking you the fans to get out the vote once again. We’d love to get your vote for Baltimore’s Best Pro Sports Blog in the race for the Mobby Award. Voting can be done by clicking here, You can vote once a day from now until the voting closes. We thank you once again for your vote(s), and as always we thank you for your patronage on our site daily!

The Orioles were shut out of the American League Silver Slugger Awards last night after taking home three last season. I suppose that leading the league in home runs wouldn’t really do much for your case…but I digress. I suspect that warmed the heart of Bob Ryan of the Boston Globe, who the other day railed on Adam Jones winning the Gold Glove over Michael Brantley of the BoSox as a miscarriage of justice. Many Orioles fans probably never thought they’d see the day when someone would question an Oriole winning anything over a Boston player!

The O’s also announced yesterday that their annual FanFest celebration will be on Saturday January 31st at the Baltimore Convention Center. As it gets closer more details will be released, however FanFest is a great family event with a lot of fun for both kids and adults. I also think that the O’s seem to do it at just the right time in a sense each year, as it’s usually at the peak of the winter doldrums.
