AL East Lineup Finalized

facebooktwitterreddit

Between Jays Journal, BoSox Injection, Yanks Go Yard, Ray Colored Glasses, Birds Watcher, and help from you the readers on the final outfielder, we have all come to a final agreement on the best possible lineup made up of AL East players to take on the other divisions in the the American League.

The lineup is as follows:

Cather – Matt Wieters
First Base – Adrian Gonzalez
Second Base – Robinson Cano
Third Base – Evan Longoria
Shortstop – Derek Jeter
Outfield – Brett Gardner
Outfield – Carl Crawford
Outfield – Jose Bautista
DH – Manny Ramirez

You can also check out Jays Journal for a more in depth breakdown of how the voting went.

What do you think of this lineup? Does this represent the best possible option at each position in the AL East? I am happy to have atleast one Orioles player represented in the lineup. To be honest, for DH I voted for David Ortiz and I didn’t think of voting for the Orioles Vladimir Guerrero (I still may be in shock he is actually going to be the Orioles DH this season). However, after looking at the statistics from last season I am kicking myself for not voting for Vlad. He put up much better numbers than Manny and similar numbers to Ortiz last season. You can argue over who had the better career, but Vlad certainly could have been considered.

The one spot that sparked a lot of debate is the final outfield spot. Crawford and Gardner won the first two outfield spots clearly, which led to a debate over the final spot. Jose Bautista, Nick Markakis, and Jacoby Ellsbury were the outfielders being debated on over the final spot. Bautista was being questioned on whether his last year was just a fluke and also whether or not he should be considered an outfielder. Ultimately, you the readers voted for Bautista to be the final outfielder.

I feel the Orioles are represented fairly, even if it’s just one player. Vlad and Markakis would be the only other players I would have considered to make the final lineup. Do you feel any other Orioles players should of made the final lineup?

Next up is the pitchers. Birds Watcher will let you know the 5 starting pitchers, set up man, and closer that the AL East blogs decide will represent our AL East team. If there are any ties we will open it up to you the readers to decide. Would you vote any of the Orioles pitchers on an All AL East pitching staff?
