O’s Four-Game Win Streak Gives Fans Something to Talk About

It seems like out of nowhere, the O’s have come back to life.

One day, we are all filling up the local message boards with talk about right fielder Nick Markakis’ meeting with team owner Peter Angelos.  Over the course of the next three days, we were speaking about a four-game win streak.

Suddenly, the O’s have learned how to play baseball again.  After being down 3-0, 6-0, 5-0, and 3-0 over their past four games respectively, the offense has erupted for four comeback victories en route to a sweep of the struggling cross-town rival Washington Nationals.

To think that only two weeks ago we all had the Nats’ recent moves on our minds.  Now, it’s the O’s turn to get some attention after the Beltway Series has officially concluded.

So what can we take from the O’s recent success?

At this point, it is too early to tell.  What we do know is this:  The young hitters have finally decided to join the party in Camden Yards.  Adam Jones looks like his former All-Star self, Nick Markakis has consistently stayed above the .300 BA mark, Matt Wieters is racking up RBIs faster than the O’s were racking up losses earlier in the year, and infielder Scott Moore has reminded us why a few of us fans out there continued to support him.

In the coming days, we could see changes throughout the organization.  A new manager may be on his way, Garrett Atkins has officially been DFA’d (It’s about time.), and the All-Star Break is coming in the near future.

For now, though, the present is pleasant, so let’s soak it in while it lasts.
