Nate McLouth spent a season-plus with the Baltimore Orioles. Can you see the Orioles bringing back McLouth to 333 West Camden Street to play for the Birds?

McLouth has played in the Major Leagues for the past 10 seasons. He has batted a career .247/.332/.410 with 101 home runs and 333 RBI.

In his season-plus in Baltimore, McLouth batted .261/.333/.409 with 19 home runs and 54 RBI. Entering free agency after the 2013 season, he was signed by the Washington Nationals for a two-year deal.

However, that deal did not work in the Nationals favor as McLouth had an off year at the plate in 2014. In 79 games played, McLouth batted .173/.280/.237 with just one home run and seven RBI.

Now rumors are swirling that the Orioles may try to reacquire McLouth to give the ball club another option in the outfield.

McLouth’s base running is something the Orioles lack at times. In 157 attempts, McLouth has stolen 133 bases in his career. In 2014, the Orioles had the least amount of stolen bases in the League.

Defensively, his speed allows the 33-year-old to track fly balls down with more ease. However, his arm strength in his throwing arm leaves something to be desired.

Looking at McLouth’s strengths and weaknesses, he is very reminiscent of current Orioles outfielder David Lough. However, I think Lough has the ability to hit with more consistency in 2015, considering he batted .351/.387/.544 after the All-Star Break.

Lough also has a stronger throwing arm in my personal opinion and, being that he is only 28-years-old, age does play a factor. If Dan Duquette and the Baltimore Orioles were wise, they would pass on Nate McLouth.
