Baltimore Orioles: Birds Watcher Staff and Rotation, 2014

facebooktwitterreddit

With the regular season coming quickly (next Monday!) for the Baltimore Orioles, I wanted to take some time to set up how the Birds Watcher staff was going to operate in 2014. As has been the case forever and ever, you will hear from me the day after every game with a recap of the previous day or night’s game, and a bit of a preview for that day or night’s game. And luckily for the fans this year, I won’t be spending time away in Europe this summer to take away from the Orioles’ coverage that is provided!

We also have a very talented roster of staff writers who will be on a rotation of sorts this year, starting on Sunday. Our writers will publish a minimum of one opinion piece per week, and sometimes more if their lives and time permits. That rotation will be as follows:

  • Sunday – Scott Cahoon
  • Monday – Ryan Vowels
  • Tuesday – Steve Katz
  • Thursday – Jacob Adams
  • Friday – Mike Franz

You might occasionally see some variation to this, as things come up in all of our lives. I’ll throw some additional opinion pieces up here and there as well, especially on Wednesdays or Saturdays from time to time. I think it’s safe to say that you’ll have various opportunities to hear from all of our writers, which means varying opinions at times; that’s part of what makes Birds Watcher great. However I can also promise you that our writing will also always be professionally written, as we take great pride in that aspect of this job.

As has been the case in the past, fans can follow me on twitter (@DomenicVadala) for in-game updates and final scores. You can also follow our Birds Watcher twitter feed, @BirdsWatcherFS, along with some of our writers: Steve Katz, Scott Cahoon, Ryan Vowels, Jacob Adams, and Mike Franz. (Please note that while all of our Orioles’ tweets are serious, those twitter feeds are our own as opposed to being affiliated with Birds Watcher or Fansided.)

The newest addition to our site in a sense is something that was added very recently: The Birds Watcher Radio Show. Let me be frank; this is almost a running gag! I was a broadcasting major in college, and I was never really able to break into radio as a career. However for the time being this is the best I’m going to be able to do I suppose. The Birds Watcher Radio Show is in essence a podcast upon which I’ll talk about the goings on of the Orioles and at times a few things from around MLB. There’s no set time for the show, and in effect I do it whenever I have time. But follow my twitter feed and you’ll see when it’s scheduled. If you’re listening live (as opposed to an archived version of the show), I do take calls on the air – I’d love to hear from you at some point!

So with all of that said, this is Birds Watcher, 2014. We hope to make this our best season yet, and we know that the potential for that wouldn’t even be possible without our great fans who read our site daily. We thank you from the very bottoms of our hearts for that, and we ask you to stick with us through the ups and downs of the coming season.
