Baltimore Orioles: Birds Watcher with a strong Mobby showing
As has been covered here ad hoc, Birds Watcher was nominated for a 2014 Mobby award in Baltimore under the category of Best Pro Sports Blog. First off once again, thanks so much for helping us to be nominated for a second consecutive year. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate knowing that the fans of the Baltimore Orioles continually appreciate the work we do. And we’re trying on a daily basis to make our finished product better for the fans – so stick with us!

The awards were given out on Wednesday evening; congratulations to I Hate JJ Redick on winning Baltimore’s Best Sports Blog. Birds Watcher finished sixth – and again, I greatly appreciate all of our fans voting for us on a daily basis. In 2013 we finished somewhere around 16th or so, therefore I’m incredibly proud that we were able to move up that much. Incidentally, that was sixth out of 19 nominees.
I also noticed that the columns who were voted ahead of us were all about every local sport than anything else. The only exception is Roch Kubatko’s School of Roch column on masnsports.com, which finished fifth. (And quite frankly given their reach I have no issue finishing behind Roch, who incidentally is a GREAT writer and very deserving of any accolades he receives – be it in the Mobbies or anywhere else.) But not only were we the top Orioles-centric site (aside from MASN) in Baltimore, we were also the top rated site which is centric of any one specific sport or team.
So our hope is that we have at the very least represented the Fansided Network in a positive manner. But again I can’t thank our fans enough for their votes everyday, because obviously it made a difference. As I’ve said many times, stick with us throughout the off season and we’ll certainly try our best to keep you entertained and informed! (The results of the Mobby awards can be viewed here.)
