The Stage Is Set for Orioles Magic

Tonight’s American League Wild Card Game marks the start of Postseason baseball. For Orioles fans, it seems like an eternity until Thursday when Baltimore faces off against Detroit in Game 1 of the ALDS.

Although these next 44 hours will appear to go by slowly, the fact of the matter is Baltimore is about to embark on their second World Series run in three years. Many Baltimore fans who had to sit through losing season after losing season were still in disbelief that the Orioles are in the Postseason once again. However, tonight made things all the more real with the “2014 Postseason” logos being painted along the first and third base lines at Camden Yards by the grounds crew.

Seeing these pictures myself got me both excited and a tad nervous as did seeing Max Scherzer being named the Game 1 starter.  Yet, just like the rest of the season, Baltimore will go into Game 1 with a chip on their shoulders despite what the critics say.

The crowd will be pumped. The Oriole Bird will be energetic. And Boog’s Barbeque will have plenty of customers. Thursday will be one of those games every Baltimore fan will remember where they were when this game played out. With a sell-out crowd on hand and Chris Tillman on the mound, the Birds will have the support they need to silence the Tigers’ bats.

There are several pep rallies that have been going on throughout the past couple days (Like Orioles fans needed any more reason to get pumped for Thursday). And signs throughout the city keep reminding people that October baseball is here. Are you ready?
