First and foremost, I’d like to wish Baltimore Orioles’ fans and all readers a very Happy Thanksgiving this morning! Birdland has a lot for which to be thankful this year, even though perhaps the team itself fell short of the goal of the postseason. Let’s not forget that the 2013 Orioles blessed it’s fans with perhaps the best defense in the history of baseball. We also had the honor of watching Chris Davis become only the second Oriole in history to hit over 50 homers. However I would submit that perhaps the biggest thing for which fans to be thankful is once again in the dugout: William Nathaniel Showalter. Like him or not, Buck’s here to stay for some time. For the first time perhaps since the 1990’s the Orioles have a solid manager and a steady hand at the helm.
So with this being Thanksgiving day, let me also mention that I’d like to give thanks for the people at the Fansided Network who continue to allow us to publish this site on a daily basis. Birds Watcher is the “official Orioles’ site on the Fansided Network,” and that’s an honor that isn’t lost on me. Through our partnership with Sports Illustrated, I also have the honor of knowing that Birds Watcher articles are showing up there as well. Again, that’s not lost on me. From my family to yours, I wish all readers a blessed Thanksgiving holiday today and this weekend!
