Okay, perhaps the title is a bit misleading, but work with me! You won’t actually see the Baltimore Orioles in game action tonight, but there’s more than a good chance that some news and some memories will be made. At 7 PM tonight Rawlings Sporting Goods Company will unveil their 2013 Gold Glove winners on an hour-long version of Baseball Tonight on ESPN2. The O’s have six finalists up for the award: Adam Jones, Manny Machado, Matt Wieters, J.J. Hardy, Nick Markakis, and Chris Davis. Last year the Orioles saw the likes of Jones, Wieters, and Hardy all took home the hardware for the O’s.
The Orioles led the league in the sheer number of nominations, although over the weekend the national media seemed more enthralled at the fact that Tampa’s entire infield was nominated. As has been stated over and over, the 2013 Orioles committed a league-low 54 errors (a new major league record). So it would stand to reason that they would be well represented in the field. It should also stand to reason that they’ll be well represented when the winners are announced as well. Nevertheless, you can follow the Orioles’ results via my twitter feed (@DomenicVadala) as well as on our site twitter feed (@BirdsWatcherFS).
