Veteran Orioles’ radio broadcasters Joe Angel and Fred Manfra will be back calling the action from Florida again this year on WBAL and the Orioles’ radio network. Generally most network stations don’t carry the spring training games, however WBAL has a very strong signal that reaches various parts of the state of Maryland and even up and down the eastern seaboard. Most of the games will feature Angel and Manfra offering lineups at the top of the hour (five minutes prior to the game), and final statistics after the game has ended. However the games on March 21, 24, 27, and 28 will feature a full half-hour pre and post-game show.

After a four-year hiatus during which they were carried by WJZ-FM, the Orioles returned to WBAL in 2011. Speaking for myself, one thing that I missed was that there wasn’t as much pre and post-game coverage of games as there was on WJZ, however WBAL remedied that last season when they added a radio version of the Wall-to-Wall Baseball show with Tom Davis and former Oriole Dave Johnson immediately following the post-game recap. Presumably this will continue into 2013, with Davis and Johnson broadcasting their show live from Camden Yards after home games. In the interim however, fans can look forward to tuning into WBAL to catch Orioles’ action from Florida for spring training.
