Keys Quotes from 12th Inning Walk-Off 3-2 Victory Tuesday; Mummey Update

Note:  Trent Mummey suffered a concussion as he dove head first on the warning track in left-center field.  An update regarding the Keys’ centerfielder is in the quotes.

Jeremy Nowak

On 12th inning victory

“It was definitely a long game. Coming off of three losses it was a big win and a huge momentum change.  It was my first walk off hit.”

On rebounding from three-game losing streak

“I think we are making adjustments.  We are having good at bats, getting timely hits.  We are definitely playing better baseball now.”

On the bullpen performance

“To hold a team to two runs is huge because it gives us the opportunity to win the game. If it does occur every game we have an even better chance to win.  Our pitches were comfortable.”

Orlando Gomez

On 12th inning victory

“It was a big win. We tried everything. We had outstaning pitching.  Bywater pitched really well and so did the bullpen. We struggled in certain situations, but this is why we play the game because you don’t know what’s going to happen.”

On the basis of the game

“The key is we won the game.  We had good pitching and we just got the win.”

On Trent Mummey’s condition

“He’s got a concussion and when you have that you can’t play for at least a week.  He is headed for the DL.  He dove for the ball. The doctor checked it out he stayed in the game, but then had to be taken out after he ran home on the double by [Tyler] Townsend.”
