Congratulations to the St. Louis Cardinals for winning the 2011 World Series last night in Game 7 6-2 against the Texas Rangers.
They were the winners of one of the greatest games in World Series history when David Freese hit a 2-run triple to tie the game in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs. After Josh Hamilton hit a 2-run homer in the top of the tenth, the Cardinals somehow scrapped together 2 more runs to force an 11th inning. In the bottom of the 11th, down to their last strike of the inning, David Freese hit a walk-off home run to force Game 7. At that point, it was pretty much destiny for the Cardinals to win. How could they not win after that Game 6?
Thank you for giving us an improbably awesome World Series that originally no one cared about. Now onto next season for the Orioles turn? Yeah right. We can only dream.
