Exciting Comeback Leads to Nothing

Yesterday’s game was really sucky. After getting up 2-0 early, the Orioles allowed the Athletics to come back and score 5 unanswered runs. Finally, Nick Markakis hit a solo home run in the 6th to pull within 2 but the next half inning, Suzuki homered, giving them a 3-run lead yet again. The next inning, the O’s scored again and had a man on first and second with no outs but the next 3 to the plate all got out.

Then came the 9th inning with the score at 6-4 A’s. Josh Bell and Matt Wieters led the inning with 2 strikeouts. None out and 2 outs. Andino doubled followed by an infield single by Hardy. With Nick Markakis at the plate, he hit a single scoring Andino making it 6-5. Blake Davis, who was running for Hardy, tried to score from first to tie the game but he ended up getting thrown out at the plate by right fielder DeJesus who hadn’t had an error in 301 straight games. It was a very exciting inning, clearly, but ended poorly for the O’s because they got another loss and another lost series. They’ve now lost 14 straight series. Ew.
