Game Recap: I Won’t Even Bother

Yeah. This game was terrible. I stopped watching when the score became 8-2 Rangers. I’m not even wasting my time recapping it because it was just pathetic. Chris Jakubauskas faced only 13 batters but gave up 6 runs on 7 hits. Alfredo Simon then came in and gave up 6 runs over 4 1/3 innings. Orioles pitching gave up 18 hits and 13 runs while the O’s only managed 6 hits and 4 runs, 3 of those coming from Mark Reynolds who hit 2 home runs a solo and a 2-run.

I mean really the only positive thing out of this game is Mark Reynolds who hit his 19th and 20th home run. J.J. Hardy also hit a home run, his 12th of the season.

If you want to torture yourself looking at the recap, box score, and play-by-play, be my guest here. I wouldn’t recommend it though; it’s too painful. Also, something to keep in mind…Buck Showalter was back at home as he managed the Rangers for a few years before getting fired. What happened right after he got fired? Yep, the Rangers won the ALCS and went to the World Series. Remember how Showalter managed the Arizona Diamondbacks and New York Yankees earlier in his career too? Do you know what happened after he left both of those teams? Yep, the very next year those teams went on to win the World Series. I’m not saying to fire him but he is struggling. After he took over last year, the O’s went 34-23 to finish out the season, second only to the Phillies during that stretch. Right now, they’re 36-46 about halfway into the season. His first game as manager last season was August 3rd, which is way past the halfway mark of the season. He managed 58 games last season and had a winning record while this season, he’s managed 82 games and is under .500. Maybe he’s not a long-term kind of manager? His contract is through 2013 and his longest management period was 4 years, 1992-1995 with the Yankees and 2003-2006 with the Rangers. Or maybe this team just cannot be a winning team again. Let’s hope it’s the first one and that something gets figured out and soon.
