Injury Updates/Roster Moves-lots of action going on (UPDATED ALREADY)

UPDATE: Jakubauskas is already about to take the mound after being called up today due to a disgusting outing by Bergesen. He was out there for 3 1/3 inning giving up 7 runs including 3 triples and he walked the bases loaded by hitting Cano followed by 2 walks. I guess that complete game shut-out was a fluke and I would love to see this idiot get sent down ASAP.

This is a bit delayed as to when it happened earlier today but just so you’re all aware.

As expected, Derrek Lee was placed on the 15-day DL with the strained left oblique and is expected back in early June.

In addition, Cesar Izturis was also put on the 15-day DL. He isn’t expected back until late July due to an irritated nerve in his right elbow (he had Tommy John surgery in 2005) and is scheduled for elbow surgery.

Something not expected: Roberts missed last night’s game against the Yankees due to headaches but he is now on the 7-day DL with concussion-like symptoms after going head first into the knee of a 2nd baseman when stealing the base. He can come back May 26.

Brian Matusz could come back as early as May 28! That’s next Saturday and very very very exciting!

Justin Duchscherer was scratched from a simulation bullpen session yesterday and is expected return has been pushed back from late May to “possibly June.” So, that doesn’t look very promising but apparently his scratch wasn’t due to back or hip problems (the reason why he’s on the DL).

Finally, to take up the spots opened up by Lee, Izturis, and Roberts on the DL LHP Troy Patton and RHP Chris Jakubauskas have been called up.
